Great Ocean Road and Grampians
This part of your journey takes you along the spectacular Great Ocean Road with sights such as the iconic 12 Apostles, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge… the shipwreck coast! Also venture into the Otway rainforest beaming with green trees. Next sight is the Grampians National Park, where you will hike to the highest peak with outstanding views from the top. The we make our way into Adelaide, the iconic city of churches.
This is an animals lovers dream and Australia 3rd largest island! Walk with endangered Australia Sea Lions, Sand board down ancient sand dunes at Little Sahara, spot dolphins on some of the best beaches you will see in Australia. That’s not all, day two of our Kangaroo Island adventure is on the far western end of the island, where the waves will be crashing against the coastline, be inspired by the million year old rock formations such as Remarkable Rocks and after lunch spot some of the furry Koalas.
We have now had our fair share of remote Australian coastlines and wildlife, now its time to hit the big red desert, the outback! Start off by visiting the Southern Flinders Ranges where the gum trees are taller than some buildings! Do a hike through a red, rocky gorge with water creeks flowing beside you. Next, we hit the long outback road venturing for Coober Pedy, the underground opal mining town. Sift for opals and visiting orphaned kangaroos!
En-route for the Northern Territory, hike in a secret favourite, Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park, the cliff edge views are truly remarkable. Once you see the sight of the big red rock, nothing prepares you for it. Be immersed in the indigenous culture of Uluru and Kata Tjuta for 2 days before making tracks to Alice Springs.
