Groovy Grape Adventures - Our Story
Groovy Grape began back in 1997 when Dallas, our founder, ran his very first Barossa Valley tour. What started as a simple idea — small groups, relaxed travel, and a focus on fun — soon grew into something much bigger. Over time, Groovy began taking travellers across South Australia and beyond, building a reputation for adventure, good company, and unforgettable experiences.
Like many in tourism, we had to pause during COVID. However, the story came full circle when Dallas and his family brought Groovy back into their hands. Today, the next generation has joined the team, keeping that same spirit alive while bringing fresh energy and new ideas for the future.
We’ve been showing off South Australia for more than 25 years, so we know the hidden corners, the best local food and wine, and the spots where you’re most likely to catch a kangaroo hopping by.
Our tours are small, friendly and personal. With Groovy, you’re not just ticking off places on a map. You’re sharing moments, stories, and laughs that stay with you long after the trip ends.

Got Questions?
How many people are on a Groovy Grape tour?

What age group are Groovy Grape tours designed for?
Groovy Grape typically attracts travellers 18–40, but anyone with a young, adventurous spirit is welcome on tour.
How do I book a Groovy Grape tour?
You can book directly on our website, call us on (08) 8357 1594, email us on georgia@seeadelaide.com.au or through major youth travel agents, backpacker platforms and hostels.
What is included in a Groovy Grape tour?
Groovy Grape tours include transport, accommodation (bell tents on KI), meals, national park fees, wine tastings, ferry transfers where required, and a fun, knowledgeable guide. All you need is a small bag and a sense of adventure.
What vehicle does Groovy Grape Adventures use on tour?
Groovy Grape Adventures uses comfortable, air-conditioned Toyota Coasters (20-seat) or Toyota Commuter (12-seat) buses, depending on group size. Both vehicles have big windows for views, plenty of personal space, and are perfect for small-group adventure travel.
For multiday tours like our 2-Day Kangaroo Island Wildlife Adventure, we also tow a luggage trailer so backpacks and gear stay secure and the bus stays roomy and comfortable for travellers.
Are Groovy Grape tours good for backpackers and working holiday makers?
Yes! Groovy Grape was created in 1997 for backpackers, young travellers and WHMs who want a fun, social and easy way to explore South Australia. Our tours are relaxed, small-group and great for meeting new people.
